He/she calls you names because they are mirroring the hatred and disrespect you feel for yourself. Well, and they're probably a**holes, too. But people don't respond well when a partner NEEDS constant validation from them. And they get mean and start belittling you...it's almost like they're trying to shock you into standing up for yourself. Get some self-esteem books at the library and go get your backbone....It's only when you appreciate yourself that others follow suit. NO JOKE!

And another thing...you say you want to be truly loved, but the implication is that you want others to do the immense task of loving you. They won't do that if you can't even do the work for yourself. Would you buy a car from a salesman who said, "Hell no, I wouldn't be caught dead in that piece of junk?" I finally got a clue myself. I do not know how to pity. I am trying to learn. When people are offended by what seems to be my mere existence I felt empathy, as in I am sorry. We need to feel pity, as in I am sorry you are offended, but why? Put them in thier place, it is not your fault they have no manners.

Adding to the above comment: Most of these commentors seem to think you are refering to a man, but I believe you are referring to the world in general. The people that give you dirty looks just because they don't like your hair or think you need a pedicure. Yeah right. If you judge people so harshly you have some major problems in your own life you are too scared to face. Remember that. Some people love themselves too much, don't let them affect you.
