My guess is that, right or wrong, your man only wants to do things that makes him feel good (drinking with friends) and probably associates chores/resposibility with negativity, since he probably gets yelled at for not doing them, not helping, not pulling his weight, etc.
The key is to make sure you show him a positive response when he does do something around the house. That way he won't associate those things with feeling like an asshole. And also, if you can, try to be positive about his hanging out with friends (since my 2nd guess is he associates that with pissing you off, another perk to going out). You have to shift to your source of power, which is the power to influence through praise instead of criticism.

Men are lazy. Obviously, a little help would be greatly appreciated. Men think that they work all day and need to "relax" when they get home. Well, so do women. Women watch their children all day... it's exhausting. And the working women... well, they are expected to cook & clean after a long days work. How fair is that?

So many mean-spirited men on this site! I never realized how much men resent us woman.... Angry angry men! Men who have no respect. I guess I have been blessed and lucky. My man works his ass off, comes home and does what he wants to do without me telling him to do a single thing. He is not the type to sit on his ass so he is always, working in the yard, or helping with housework. He sees something needs done and he does it before I even have the chance to say anything. I am a stay at home mom with 2 teens and go to the gym daily, so Im in great shape and he comes home to me cooking a good meal and he is happy.
