Many people confuse Wicca for Satanic Worship. It's very frustrating. There are many sites on the web that help explain what Wicca *is* and you may want to consider going to the library and checking out some of the books which were specifically written for parents of teenagers exploring Wicca. I'm surprised your own group (unless you are a solo Wiccan) hasn't pointed you to resources for explaining your choices to others. Personally, I don't think you need to tell them anything. If you are fulfilled by it personally, let your fulfillment and serenity be the best indicator of your happiness and let it come out naturally, when the time is right.

Its hard to decide how and when and IF. I went through it myself, though my family was not the church going type at all but not athiest if you understand that so it wasnt exactly the same but my aunt is actually the one that started teaching me, though I dont think that any of her family knows to this day, and they are the very faithful church goers, I never said anything about me to them though shhh, I guess it depends how you feel if you feel that they need to know or that you want them to know then, if not its not a shamefull little secret, if your are a teen, just guessing, there is no reason to feel guilty about wicca it is a very natural time to explore you personal spirituality (no explore is not meant to scrutinizing or any such)

Say to the family. " I am an athiest!". Then say, " just kidding, I'm really a witch".

Wiccan isn't really a religion, it's a practice. Anyone can be Christian, Jew, Hindu ,whatever, and still practice Wicca. That is a common misconception. Cast an acceptance spell on your family.

We are in the same position with my brother in law and his wife. My wife loves their children. We respect other peoples religions but they believe they have the only true religion. We have decided to slowly let them know who we are. We may lose them but we are no longer willing to misrepresent ourselves.

Hey if you are going to believe in a bullshit religion, it might as well be one that pisses of the family.

I was a new ager in the '70s, truly believed we were on the path. My life changed when I had an accident. I don't know why I did it, maybe for my kids' sake, but I called out to God to save me. It changed my life and I thanked Him for it by living for Him and telling others about Him. God has sons and daughters, but not grandchildren. You have to find your own way. Maybe like the prodigal child you will return, but He gives you a choice. Tell your family anyway - they will be pray for you.

Listen to no one.....only to your own heart. There is nothing more vicious than the way religious people try to guilt trip others into believing what they believe. Don't flaunt it to your family, but don't let their arrogance intimidate you either!
