The first poster said it pretty bluntly, but self esteem is the issue here. In short, you think you're worthless, so the brain seeks out people and relationships that confirm that conclusion so the irrational thought turns into a completely logical conclusion. (If you secretly think you're stupid, BAM, you'll end up with someone who tells you so every day!) A healthy self esteem is very hard to attain and takes a lifetime of work. Get help. You have to first decide you are worth it, otherwise you'll be getting crapped on for the rest of your life, because people see that you are down on yourself and then follow the example you've set for them.
