Yes, adopting an unwanted pet is true heroism. I knew someone who found a kitten in a box on the side of the road...had him until he died of old age. Great cat. RIP Bob!

OP: regarding the above post, to those animals that you save, you're a hero. To this day I have saved a total of 13 dogs, 9 cats, and countless little critters and I'm only 22. All from animal shelters though.
