Well my raccoon lives outside and has had its shots. If the creature is merely fed by a person but doesn't live in the house you're not breaking any laws. I have had it in the house several times though. My uncle mkaes leather and he told me that when the raccoon dies he'll make a hat out of it.

I had a raccoon as a pet in the late 1960's. Got it from a vet friend who was given an orphaned litter. We hand raised her, and she used to go everywhere with me. I have dozens of memories and stories that I wouldn't trade for anything. When she reached full maturity, she let us know that freedom was her only desire. Not being a particularly politically correct time, we just found a nice rural location with a canyon near, and a family who would look after her, and let her go. They saw her from time to time, but mostly not. The following year, she brought in her litter to their house to show off.
