15 years is a long time to some. I would leave it alone. If the family needs closure....send them a 'typed' letter saying you are sorry, but do not turn yourself in. I wouldn't!
Closure is for? I don't worry about what happened to my ancestors on the slave ships...nor do I agonize over what happened to my mother when she was in her teens.

The same thing happened to a friend of mine. He was struck and killed and the person just drove off. He probably could have been alive today if the driver just wouldhave stopped and helped. Now a lot of people are very, very sad. I hope the person who hit him rots in hell.

I know a woman whose brother and mother were the victims of a hit and run accident. They both died in agony in the hospital and the daughter says not a minute goes by when she doesn't think about what happened. You did wrong big time. Take responsibility and turn yourself in. It will help give the family of the deceased closure. Maybe you'll get probation.
