Life is short. Get out there and do what comes natural. If people don't like it. Oh well!!

I have the same problem. Accept yourself for what you are. Don't become bitter. Give love and you will get it.

I know how you feel, I try to reach out and feel like no one gets me or gets what I'm trying to say. It's very frustrating, and I usually end up just keeping my mouth shut because it's easier.

Just do it! If you embaress your self a little it's a small price to pay, you WILL make some good friends.

What you just typed here, if you said this exact thing to me over a cup of coffee, I'd pull my chair closer and engage you, ask you questions, draw you out. I'll bet we'd talk for a very long time, and at the end, you wouldn't be as lonely.

I feel that same way..i feel i have a social disorder or something. But then again when it comes to some people..im so calm relaxed and cool. i dont get it. I met one girl and me and her just hit off, we clicked instantly, now we go shopping, go out to eat etc. I guess soemtimes it depends on the type of people you run into

I don't know how to tell people they are standing too damned close to me in the check out line at the grocery

I can talk to some people, but others terrify me. You need a place of safety. Try just asking questions that expect a response, especially if they compliment the other person. "That's pretty. Where did you find it?" "I feel nervous, how do you stay so calm?" that sort of stuff.

Thanks to all that responded so kindly. I have an appt. with my doc and hope I can make him understand. I am tired of my comfort zone, there must be more to life.

I truely know how the poster feels. I can be standing in a crowd and yet feel so utterly alone. I'm not that good with words...still learning all over again how to speak....to express my thoughts and feelings.
