How sad. Did she know you were so un-happy? Did she care?

I'm sorry for your loss, commenter, but you could be a sister in law who had a sister who was a nagging shrew to her husband, but loving to you. Why did he have to stay single for you? Did you have like a First Right of Refusal or something?

Let's not humiliate the poster - I'm certain that my grandmother felt the same way when grandpap died. He was so damn difficult. After 40 some years of living a difficult marriage, it was probably a relief on her. She died many years later. If they were truly in love - she would have gone quickly after him. What you ought to see from this post is there are people in this world who do what they say they are going to do - you don't find that much anymore. I'm sorry that you lost her - I'm happy that you can live again!

Maybe she had been sick for a long while and it was a relief when she finally passed. Long illnesses can be very upsetting and make you very unhappy.

Met an old guy sitting in the park. A total stranger. He told of his unhappy marriage for 40 years. She died and now he is remarried and happy. Life and your one chance at it deserves better.
