I was/am much the same way... though all it takes is a very real chance of getting caught that will shake you out if it if you truly love your GF. Just think of the shame of telling her, the look on her face, the isolation of sleeping alone and knowing that she knows you betrayed her. I couldn't bear the thought, so I'm reformed (I hope).
