So sue him for joint custody of the pups. I had a tenant who did that and it worked. Or go get yourself a cute puppy that will be all yours.

I know so well how you feel. I went through the same thing 10 years ago. I promise,your feelings will go away. You just need a year or more. In the meantime, whatever you do, do not date. Your heart void is big enough to drive a truck through. You can't think clearly with all the pain and you may end up feeling as bad or worse with someone you met but were not careful with. You are lonely and just want your emotions stroked. But this is the most vunerable time for something like that. Just stay alone and heal. When you rise from the other side you will be more wiser and stronger than you have ever been. That is what awaits you down the road. For now, just hold onto your hope and you will be ok. I am rooting for you. How long has it been since the day you divided your belongings? Don't sue. You will never be able to put your divorce behind you. Just go buy a new puppy. My exwife and I had two cats and two dogs. I took one dog. Man, that thing became neurotic after the family was split up like that. I guess the dog felt all alone all day while I worked. Eventually, with great regret at the time, I gave the dog(a registered Brittany Spaniel)to a large, young family who lived in the country.
