I know this must hurt you terribly. Just because you are 21 does not mean that this is the first time. I am sure this has happened when you were younger. You should try to see this from your dad's position. He is happy now. He was miserable when he was with your mom. He is just trying to find some happiness in this short period we call life. From now on when you are around him, do not complain about why he has not been there, do not mention your mom-Ever! Then see how your relationship changes with him. I think you will be pleased.

one up, sooo kiss his ass in other words? FUCK YOU.

one up, no, dont kiss his ass or be decent, be an a** **** like you suggest then be puzzled when he dies and leaves you shit !!

He missed it, unless she had him literally tied up, it was a choice he made. It hurts but it's time to move on and let go, you'll be happier. My mom missed my wedding day so I do know what you're going through. Try to accept the relationship that he is capable of, presuming he's not intentionally hurtful. good luck

4 Up: To hell with the wife's sister. If his old lady rides on the back of a Harley, she's easy too. I'll give a facial to his wife while he is out riding with the fellas.

^^^3 up. That is what I am saying to the Op. Be diplomatic and be mature. She does not know what is going through her father's head

The father may be feeling shame of the mess that is the past. Men's minds can be strange that way (man here). He probably wishes he was closer, but is tormented by the past. So be diplomatic and kind, and keep in contact. With that, he may come out of his shell. Guys feel these things strongly, but don't always know how to act.

Well son, it's like this, my wife can suck start a Harley so as long as she's gobbling my knob and taking my load on her tits, I won't be coming to your shit. Your not a kid anymore. Get on with your life junior. Find a chick that can suck a watermelon thru a garden hose and is not afraid to take baby batter in the eye and quit worrying about daddy being there to root you on. Your a f***ing adult. Act like it.

3 up.^^^No, it is not kissing ass. It is called diplomacy, and being mature enough to rise above the hurt, pain and sadness her father has caused. Sometimes we are called upon to set the example when others should already know better. Often times when that happens, we find that others will change their attitude toward us.

like one of the posters said, unless he was TIED UP, he missed it intentionally...he is no father. why even waste one more minute on him? I am a fan of diplomacy, and maturity, but this man is not even worth the effort. save your energy for the in laws, or calling 1800 customer service lines, what is the benefit of spending time on a father who has no respect for his child and their relationship? Give him lots of space, and if he doesn't come around, then you will be better off. good luck. he may show you that he has ZERO capability of having a relationship with you that is fulfilling...or he might finally WAKE THE FUCK UP AND GET A CLUE. you will be okay either way. Be a better parent to your future children, :)

try being friends. you are an adult. you wouldn't have expectations of other people that they can't or won't fuffil, so give him the same consideration.
