With all that we know today, you can still smoke a pack a day? I am 11 weeks pregnant and cut myself back to 1 or 2 cigs a day tops from a pack a day. Those will be cut off tomorrow at the start of the new year. I really hope there are not any birth defects because of your choice.

No one is going to take a child because their mother smoked during pregnancy. They have much bigger problems on their hands...you know like rape and children actually being beaten. I agree that smoking is a HORRIBLE thing to do while you're pregnant, but at the same time so is quitting cold turkey. It shocks your system and could harm the baby, as well. YOu should cut down and eventually quit for the sake of your child. But if you aren't willing to do that then you should thoroughly research what smoking does to the fetus and eventually the newborn and ask yourself if you are prepared for those consequences.

Ok for one, the system is f***ed up enough that they still hand most children back to the abusive parents/legal guardians, or they get visitation rights in some cases, if the court doesn't take their rights away completely. As for smoking, your happy that your boyfriend can't smell the smoke on you, yet your not worried about what the hell its doing to your unborn child? Get your head checked.

i'm almost 7 months pregnant and i still smoke. it helps with the stress i have in my life right now. i kept smoking because i had 3 previous miscarriages because of stress (and i quite smoking each time).
