So nice to see a 'secret' like this. You are proof that addictions to drugs and alcohol are a lie and that it is all merely a choice of either being selfish or being selfless enouggh to consider another human being and their wellbeing. You chose to be strong and have courage and love your daughter in the way she needs. You put her needs of a mom before your need for partying and attention from men. Thanks for posting this. It gives me hope in healing. for the rest of humanity.

didn't the daughter come from "attention"?

^even if her daughter did come from 'attention' the point is that she has realized there is more in life than herself. She sees that her needs and self are not the center of the universe. We all make mistakes. The point is to acknowledge them, learn from them and heal. And NO child is a mistake, I don't mean that. The mistake is selfishness and no impulse control.

Proud of you for recognizing that being a good Mom to your child is more important than any man, any party, any drug. Being a good Mom and having integrity will eventually attract a good man who appreciates the personal growth you have gone through. Don't give up your morals or do something that could compromise your parenting. You should be proud of yourself. One day, your child will understand and acknowledge that. My child is grown and just recently acknowledged me for working two jobs and making things work to give us a better life away from my abusive ex.

I can relate to the OP, sometimes I miss the "fun" o being irresopnsible I guess, but the payback for being and doing what it right is way way better!

hey ladeez--just remember that's what sitters are for!!It's great that you "grew up" for your child, but you're ~still~ allowed to have fun (date nights with Hubby or whatever)the happier you are, the happier your family will be!

Or it could be that because she is a responsible parent she wants to be sure she didn't accidently get a disease that could kill her from her spouse who might cheat at some point...duh

I'm not having children until I'm 30. I'll party and finish my degree first.
