I find it very sad that at your age you still have this hate. If you carry hate with you as long as you have then it must be ingrained in your personality and that is very sad. Makes me wonder how you turned out as a parent and if your children hate you. So sad. By the way - this is from a 54 yr. old woman - not some kid.
I agree with you that some people shouldn't be parents though. Not everyone can be everything.

My 3 children have University Degrees and are professionals. They know nothing of my hatred for my parents. I have served the USA in the Military, and I am a University graduate. My point is that despite my parents failings, I was smart enough not to pass my hatred on to my children. As far as I know, they love their dad and we enjoy a decent relationship. Yes it is very sad that I carry this with me to this day. That is my secret. Thanks for the comments positive or negative

Good for you! Voice what you need to. Some parents are bad because they know no better, but that does little to help the child they twist up. -esc

strange how those childhood traumas follow us the rest of our lives, and continue to have a negative impact on our lives...i'm 52 and and have blocked out a lot of my childhood, but my teen years are still painful to remember.

I don't hate my parents but in my childhod and adolescence, they projected all their issues on me (The oldest) and my sisters. I'm the head of a happy family now, but it took a lot of time and effort to banish the demons of my upbringing. I now realize my parents were victims of their own circumstances, and they did the best they could under the circumstances. Peace.
