Dude, you need to get a life. I raised my ex's son who could think of nothing but cars. I spent his whole childhood trying to convince him that he will attend college when he got out of school. When it came time he refused to go. Now he works towing cars. You better wake up and realize that your love of cars should be nothing more than a hobby. If you want to make cars your life, I strongly advise that you go to college and earn a business degree so you can have your own shop. Otherwise, you will live in poverty all your life. I'm telling you, I know what I am talking about.

I am a woman and I feel the same about my truck. If anyone told me to get rid of it I would tell them to kiss my backside. As long as you still have a life other then your cars then you are doing okay . We all need something to occupy our minds and make us happy when everything else gets us down. If your cars give you reason to go on. Stand your ground and tell everyone else if they don't like it tough.

my husband feels the same way......sadly my brother is to and its lead him no where, to live the life of a machanic even with an A.C.E is to live a life of poverty. Keep your cars just dont make them EVERY THING about your life.

keep the cars, I know people that make $$$ on the side fixing cars. plus they get a few bjs for minor repairs that are nothing but would cost $50 in shops

i have a real job (2 actually) and love my racecar. i know what you mean. do what makes you happy. $ is all good, but $ and unhappiness is worth nothing. have a daily driver that is dependable, then a toy car. best advice i can give :) BTW 11.89 ETs and drive it to the track!!!

My health has failed me. I've gotten to the point where I can't run any more, Can't shoot hoops or do the weights, and two flights of stairs is a big work out. My car is my sole consolation in life, along with the woman who is usually in the passenger's seat! Thank heaven for small favors!

I am the one who told him to get a life. It was not meant to be condecending. I just meant he is consumed with cars and that, my own experience with my ex's son illustrates that your success with classic cars is an exception, not the norm.

I see your point. Being consumed with anything can take over our lives. I would guess that if he sold a few of his cars (even just one to start)and used the money to buy another car, fix that one up a little and resell it for a profit, his family and friends would look at him as doing something good with his time and cars instead of just collecting to cover up the empty feelings inside. Items are a way of filling up a void, however, this is not the way to live your life. So many people do this. I once did it too. It would do wonders for you to talk to someone who can guide you down the right path. Best of luck and peace to us all.

Got a nice redneck car there, Jethro. Question is, do you have any of your own teeth left?

AT the end of life it is better to have a satisfied mind than a full pocket.

Cars kept me out of bad situations for years. Dont listen to the nay sayers here. Keep driving and enjoying your cars. The day you sell them you will feel lost without them. Just be responsible about them.

Stick with your cars! You can make more money than Doctors, buying and selling the right cars. You need a few things.. A, the right cars.. B, the right buyers and C, the conections to bring A and B together. Classic car buying and selling is a big time business. Turn your car passion into your work. I was able to retire from full time work by age 35 from "playing around with old cars". The person who told you to get a life does "not" know what he is talking about. College is wonderful, however, street smarts are just as important. Sometimes more important.
