Thank you for what you do. I pray that you come back safe, please don't walk into this thinking you won't come back...I have faith that you can pull through and meet your new baby.

Just keep your head down and don't do anything stupid, like trying to be a hero because wars are always fought for the power of elitists and corporations. They use the working class do do their dirty deeds. Work hard, show enthusiasm, and don't complain much to anyone who has the authority to promote your ranks. Follow that advice and you will earn rank much quicker. In peacetime, (1980-83) I went from E-1 to E-4 in 16 months. Good luck

^^^ I am the last poster. Do not tell the mom of your child. All it will accomplish is to keep her in constant fear. That will not be good for your baby.

Don't tell her. Marry her if you love her before you leave. Make the most of your time. Telling her would only make things worst. Thanks for doing what you do.

Go back or better yet make an upgrade and go air force or navy the navy treats its military members familys a lot better than any other branch not to mention all the service and stuff that they have for military familys as well. I was air force and got out with a family and it was the biggest mistake ever and its a total and complete pain in the ass to get back into the military once youve left. It has taken over two years to process all paperwork and everything. Dont leave just try different things in the military as other branches and such.

I am a military wife with lots of military friends, almost every soldier feels like they won't come back before a deployment. Don't take it too seriously you are trained, and you have support, and more people die per capita in Chicago from murder than in the war in an average month.

Least you could do is marry her first so that the baby and her can get your benefits if anything happens to you.
